There are many different things, large or small, that can help us with our work in animal care, education and facilities maintenance. If you would like to donate any of these items, we would be delighted to hear from you. Call 360-378-5000 or email wolfhollow@wolfhollowwildlife.org. Our needs change with the seasons, so visit again in a couple of months to see an updated Wish List.

Motion Activated Cameras

When we have animals in outdoor enclosures, it can be difficult to know how well they are moving around, as they tend to hide when we go near them. This is especially true of nocturnal animals that are usually sound asleep when we check on them during the day. A Motion Activated Camera would enable us to see what goes on when we are not there, providing information that could be very valuable in determining when an animal is ready for release back into the wild. Judging from the samples we have gathered so far (e.g. raccoons taking apart an old pumpkin lantern), the footage could also be an entertaining addition to our web site and educational programs.

A friend kindly lent us his camera for a few trial runs. It proved to be very sturdy, waterproof and provided some good quality footage. This allowed us to work out which features would be most important to us. As a result, we have narrowed it down to three models that would best meet our needs. They have the entertaining names of “Cuddeback Noflash”, “Leaf River IR5”, and “Stealthcam Prowler”.
